BSc Construction Management UP

BSc (Construction Management) (three-year degree course – first phase of four year programme)

Construction managers are business people who work as contractors, project managers and/or property experts in the built environment.

The discipline focuses on technical, financial and managerial aspects. The construction manager is therefore a generalist who can add value to almost any building-related activity. In the three-year programme, some financial and managerial aspects are touched on, but the main focus is on the technical aspects. During the one-year honours programme following the BSc degree, the student receives further training in aspects such as financial management, project management, strategic management, etc. The “contents of the course” paragraph below shows how diverse the discipline really is. Students who study for a pure BCom or Law degree are often surprised at the construction manager’s insight into their various disciplines.
