Prospective students must first apply for admission to the University. An application for UP study financing may be submitted only after a student number (EMPLID) has been allocated.

Click the “MyTuks login” (UP Portal) at the top navigation bar , find the “Student Centre” portlet and select the “Apply for study finance” link.

Call for applications for
Closing Date: 30 September 
The CSIR and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) invites applications for a bursary under the DST Inter-Programme Bursary Support (IBS) grant scheme.
The IBS postgraduate bursary is intended for full time studies for Honours, Masters or PhD degrees at any South African public university.
Students who intend to register for 4th year Engineering or BTech degrees will also be considered.
The focus areas for the bursary support are restricted to the following research areas:
  • Aerospace
  • Composites
  • Modelling and Digital Sciences
  • Microsystems Technology
  • Titanium (Manufacturing Elements)
  • Photonics
  • Biotechnology:
  • Biopharming
  • Bioprocessing
  • Biocatalysis
  • Information and Communications Technology
Who should apply? – University of Pretoria Bursaries 2019

All students who intend to register for full time studies for Honours, Masters or PhD degrees at any South African public university may apply. Students who intend to register for 4th year Engineering or BTech, will also be considered. Preference will be given to those whose study areas are aligned with above-mentioned priority research areas.

Applications must include endorsement and motivation by the nominated supervisor, or Head of Department in the case of Honours/BTech/4th year Engineering students.

What is the value of the bursary award per annum?
Honours : R50 000
Masters: R77 000
PhD: R110 000
How do I apply?

When will I receive feedback?
