Labour Court order

19 May

On Friday, 19 May NEHAWU members embarked on strike and picketing action at the University of Pretoria’s Hatfield Campus.

During the course of the day, striking NEHAWU members gained entry to the Hatfield Campus.

The striking NEHAWU members’ conduct were in breach of the picketing rules established on 12 May under the auspices of the CCMA.

Help from the SAPS had to be called in to ensure the safety of UP students, staff and property and to control the situation.

An urgent Labour Court order was obtained interdicting NEHAWU members from their unlawful actions.

A copy of the interdict can be viewed here.

The Executive Management of the University is actively managing the situation and UP students and staff will be informed of any further developments.
