University of Kwazulu Natal Computer Science
Computer Science is offered on the Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses of UKZN.
We offer Computer Science as a major for the BSc degree and in the BSc(CSIT) programme on both campuses. Students majoring in Computer Science for the BSc degree typically offer either Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry or Economics as a second major. Students in the BSc(CSIT) programme may choose to major in Computer Science and in Informations Systems OR may choose to do a double major in Computer Science. Maths requirements: A full year of Mathematics is required to proceed to level 2 in Computer Science 16 credits of level 2 Mathematics is required to proceed to level 3 of Computer Science. Students doing the double major will require an additional 32 credits of Mathematics. 16 credits of level 1 Statistics is required to complete a BScCSIT programme. |

BSc Honours (Computer Science) – Pietermaritzburg & Westville Admission to the Honours programme requires a degree in Computer Science and a 55% average in four approved third level modules. Masters (MSc) (Computer Science) – Pietermaritzburg & Westville Computer Science offers students the opportunity to pursue studies in the broad field of computer science. This program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge in a specific area of computer science, and to provide a significant introduction to research. Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science Overview of the Degree The Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science is designed to take students to the frontiers of key areas of computer science. It combines theoretical and applied investigation to create new models and software systems to solve problems in the industrial, business and social worlds. |
