Qualification admission requirements
Your admission to Unisa is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification.
a Senior Certificate (SC) with at least an F symbol on HG or E symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning and at least an F symbol on HG or E symbol on SG in Mathematics,
a National Certificate (Vocational) with at least 40% in the language of teaching and learning and at least 30% in Mathematics in terms of the NSC.
Selection option for the Higher Certificate studies will be limited and aligned to vocational subject choices obtained in the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) level 4.
If you intend to apply for admission to Unisa in , please take note of Unisa’s re-admission policy which is applicable to all applicants starting a new qualification in .
As an undergraduate student, you must register for, and pass, at least 36 credits per year/over two consecutive semesters. If you don’t, you will not be re-admitted to Unisa in 2022. From your second year of study, you need to pass a minimum of 48 credits per year/over two consecutive semesters. If you don’t, you won’t be allowed to study further at undergraduate level, unless you complete a one-year short learning programme (NQF level 4, 5 or higher) from an accredited university after the year of exclusion or a Unisa short learning programme.
Student fees and funding your studies
Pay the application fee once you’ve received the student number: R100 for online applications and R150 for hard copy applications. This fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to study through Unisa or do not qualify for admission to Unisa.

Additional support for this qualification via TVET colleges
Unisa has an agreement with various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges to offer classes in a selected number of qualifications. These classes have proved to generally improve the throughput rate of students who enrol for them. Find out more.
