Wits Business School offers Master of Management in the field of Strategic Marketing. The Degree is a two year block-release academic programme, with a combination of course work (50%) and a dissertation in marketing (50%). The course is designed for students who have studied marketing at the undergraduate level, and wish to further their studies in advanced business and marketing concepts. It is aimed at practicing marketers with marketing qualifications and experience who wish to further develop their careers in marketing. Students will be exposed to the latest thinking in advanced marketing concepts in a variety of specialist areas. They will learn critical thinking about marketing issues, the analysis and application of advanced marketing tools, and the practical development of marketing solutions in a business environment. The programme builds on undergraduate marketing studies to further hone the skills of the delegates. Courses will be taught in an interactive manner through case studies and group presentations to develop practical applications of the concepts.

Admission process
Please ensure that all information uploaded is correct and that you have included everything required on the checklist. In order to be considered by the Admissions Committee, your application form and the other required documentation (including the transcript and other supporting documents) must reach the Student Enrolment Centre.

Admission requirements

  • 4 year degree / diploma NQF 8 in one of the following: Bcom, BA Corporate Communications, BBA, BTech Marketing, or any degree plus IMM.
  • Overall average of 60% or above.
  • Successful compliance with all admission requirements specified by the school e.g. letter of motivation, verifiable work experience document.
  • Successful completion of the WBS psychometric test.
  • Candidates may also be required to attend an interview with WBS faculty to determine their suitability for the programme.

  2. Certified copy of all academic transcripts
    Academic Transcript
    Information is given in the General Information booklet but please note: Wits undergraduates do not need to submit a transcript. Graduates from other universities must submit an original or certified copy of their academic transcript. The transcript must include a complete list of all subjects taken for a degree, including any courses that were failed. A degree certificate is NOT a transcript.
  3. SAQA evaluation certificate (students whose prior degrees were not awarded by a South African University)
  4. Proof of English language proficiency (students who have not studied at tertiary level in English).
  5. WBS Psychometric test
  6. The non-refundable application fee of R200.
